HONG Hyunjoo 홍현주
Hong Hyun-ju, who majored in Western painting at Dongguk University’s College of Art, moved to France in 1989 to find her own unique form of expression. Consistently creating both paintings and etchings, the artist captures her personal stories in her works every day.
Her artistic language is deeply rooted in the everyday experiences of time and form, with the artist expressing moments of feeling, perception, and emotion. For Hong Hyun-ju, the act of painting is like keeping a "diary," and the canvas becomes a place where she naturally connects with her inner self and unravels her stories. As she expresses the emotions of daily life, she fills the canvas with a harmonious blend of vivid, warm colors and cool tones. Using lines and dots, she portrays dynamic movement within the calmness of colors, almost as if dancing, through geometric forms. The artist creates a unique poetic language between her works and the viewers, and like silent raindrops, the harmony of warm and cool colors gently leads us along the path to tranquility.
